Before going off to La Plaza yesterday, James went for a three-hour hike along the ridge above San Juan. Here are some of his photos: a woman carrying sticks on her head through a field of pitaya or dragon-fruit; the terraced fields; a snake. ("What kind?" I asked. "Dead," James answered.) I'm jealous. Maybe next week I can go....
